April 27, 2011 Leave a comment
It has been almost a month since my last post in my Windows Azure link-listing series. Wow, has there been a lot of developments in the past several weeks! Here are some of the things that have caught my attention….
MIX 2011 was held in Las Vegas, NV in mid-April and there were announcements and great Windows Azure sessions:
There have been a variety of articles describing how Windows Azure is or will be used my major companies in major initiatives:
- Microsoft and Toyota Announce Strategic Azure Partnership
- NewsGator Aggregates Millions of Blog Posts on Windows Azure
- Microsoft and Media Entertainment Partners to Develop Digital Supply Chain Solutions on Azure
- Microsoft SXP serves millions of rich media experiences daily on Azure
On the technical side, here are some interesting materials now available:
- Blog Post: Windows Azure Traffic Manager: Windows Azure Traffic Manager is a new CTP offering that can help with geo-distributed solutions. For detailed information on Traffic Manager, click here (Word doc).
- Easy VPN with Windows Azure Connect: I didn’t realize that you could use Windows Azure Connect for simple VPN scenarios.
- Import/Export with SQL Azure: A CTP is available for import and export in SQL Azure.
- MSDN Article on AppFabric Caching: A great in-depth article from MSDN Magazine about the Windows Azure AppFabric Caching Service.
- Understanding CDN Billing: A good explanation on how Content Delivery Network usage is billed.
- Cool Hands-On-Lab: Access Control Service with WP7 and OData: This is a great lab around using the ACS for authentication scenarios for mobile applications (not just WP7).
- Windows Azure Migration Scanner: A new tool that scans your code for potential Azure migration issues.
Happy reading….
